Proud member of the Association of British Columbia Land Surveyors
A land surveyor provides expertise in the measurement of land and airspace and is exclusively responsible for determining boundaries of interests in land. Boundary issues are best understood with the assistance of a land surveyor. A land surveyor will:
assess relevant documentary evidence for the land under survey and for adjoining lands
carry out a thorough field investigation for the best evidence of the boundaries and corners in question
consider the evidence in accordance with common law and statute law
approach their work with a judicial mind and be bound by their oath, the ABCLS Bylaws, and Code of Ethics
provide an expert opinion on the location of the boundaries and prepare a legal plan of the survey for filing in a public registry where appropriate
